What it does
01
Every figure is drillable
Click a £ — fees, WIP, write-offs, debtors — and see the rows that built it, with the corrections already applied and a CSV that reconciles to the figure you clicked. Only issued bills count as billed; drafts and bills waiting for approval do not inflate the totals.
02
A corrections layer that survives audit
Write-offs, off-system credit notes and fee re-attributions are recorded once and applied by the shared metrics layer every finance report reads through. Nothing is overwritten: editing a correction supersedes it and keeps the history. A corrected figure carries a badge; the raw Clio number stays on it.
03
Credit control is a daily worklist
Issued, unpaid bills older than the firm's first-chase setting (14 days by default) join the list. Logging a chase requires a note — "we rang" without "and got no answer" is refused. Call, Email and Letter roll the bill on; a Note does not, because rolling a week on the strength of a passing remark would quietly stop the chasing. Email and Letter open a chase already written from the firm's ladder, filled with the bill's exact ledger figure. Ezra never fills in a due date it does not honestly know. A paid or voided bill in Clio drops off on the next hourly sync. Nothing else takes a bill off the list.
04
Transfers to office — the list, not the movement
Where client money has paid a bill, this is the amount to move from client account to office account at the bank. It is a worklist and a record. Email for authorisation snapshots the rows on screen and sends them to one person. Export CSV takes the same rows for the bank. Ezra never moves the money.
05
Money at risk, before the leak
Funding coverage, exposure and runway days per matter, against the client money actually held — read from Clio's authoritative per-matter balances. A financial-remedy file whose WIP has outrun money on account is visible before it is a write-off. The funding watcher is off until a firm turns it on. It never emails a client and never moves money.
06
Client account, reconciled and explained
The Clio client-account ledger syncs frequently and reconciles bank-level balances against the sum of matter balances. Residual balances on quiet and closed matters are surfaced separately.
07
Revenue leakage, found before it is lost
The billing audit compares what is known to have happened on a matter — meetings, recordings, emails, documents drafted — against what was recorded and billed, and lists the gaps, alongside time entries whose narratives are too thin to send to a client. Every finding is a prompt for a person to Accept or Ignore. Nothing on that page changes a bill. Because it exposes per-lawyer patterns, a lawyer cannot open it, for their own figures or anyone else's.
08
Whose numbers you see is a decision, not a job title
Finance visibility is a per-person grid an administrator sets, and it governs partners exactly as it governs everyone else, bar a short list of supervision reports. Scope is enforced on the server and on the export.
09
Payments ride this, they are not a fourth module
Card payments against a bill and Pay-by-Bank money on account, into two separate firm accounts. A pilot: allowlisted while a firm proves it, switched off by default. They sit on Finance.
On the Clio file
Bills and the client account are read from Clio, which stays authoritative for both. Chase notes push to the Clio matter where the bill maps to exactly one. Narrative rewrites can be pushed back to Clio time entries when a person accepts them. Ezra never moves money.
